Trinity Church Cemetery & Mausoleum
The only active burial ground in Manhattan, Trinity Church Cemetery & Mausoleum, founded in 1842, occupies the former site of John James Audubon’s estate in the Washington Heights neighborhood as part of the Trinity Church Wall Street real estate complex. It is the final resting place of many of New York City’s most influential citizens, including Audubon himself, America’s first multimillionaire John Jacob Astor, and acclaimed writer Ralph Ellison.
In 2019, Trinity Church Wall Street changed their logo and overall branding for a cleaner, more modern image. They turned to Archigrafika to implement the new identity across the signage and wayfinding, as the 24-acre cemetery required a more robust signage program than Trinity’s other church properties. The outdoor wayfinding consists of gateway signage and branding at the many entrances to the cemetery, and regulatory and wayfinding signage throughout. With an eye to Manhattan’s only active cemetery’s longevity—past and future—Archigrafika chose porcelain enamel signage for its durability against the elements.
